Kari Riley (She/her) CPM, LDM, LM.

~Primary Midwife~

In 2007 Kari became a DONA (Doulas of North America) certified doula.  From 2007-2014 Kari had 4 children of her own and supported women during 80+ births as a Doula.  Wanting to expand her skills, she became certified through ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association) as a Childbirth Educator. She taught classes both in people's homes and in the hospital. In 2014 she enrolled in the Midwives College of Utah where she earned her degree in Midwifery.  During her time of schooling and training she attended another 70+ births as a midwifery student. She then had a steady practice in Central Oregon before settling into Portland, OR as her home. She has had the opportunity to work in home, hospital, and birth center settings under the supervision of many highly experienced and respectable Certified Professional Midwives and Certified Nurse Midwives in Oregon. She graduated from the Midwives College of Utah and has earned the credential of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through a National Organization called the National Registry of Midwives (NARM). She is also a Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM) through the state of Oregon and a Licensed Midwife (LM) in Washington.

Connection with the families she serves is one of the greatest joys in her work. She considers it a privilege to watch families grow and receive a new family member. Protecting and holding that space for people is a huge part of her midwifery practice.

Cassidy Dobek (she/her) CPM, LDEM, LM  ~Assistant Midwife~

Growing up in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont, home birth was not a foreign concept to me. I attended my first home birth- that of my sister’s- just under the age of three. Twelve years later, I had another opportunity to support my mother with the home birth of my brother. These experiences aided me in uncovering my path as a birth worker and ignited my passion to serve clients in their most powerful and vulnerable moments.

In 2012, I moved with my husband and pup to Portland, OR where I enrolled in the Midwifery Program at Birthingway College of Midwifery. After completing my coursework and clinical training, I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. I serve our Homespun clients as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), licensed direct-entry midwife (LDM) in the state of Oregon, and licensed midwife in the state of Washington (LM).

In 2019, I gave birth to my son and experienced firsthand what the path of childbearing requires of each of us. This experience has only intensified my passion to serve growing families. I have always enjoyed the process of developing relationships with our clients during the prenatal period so that when it comes time for their birth, they are supported by a trusted and known care provider.

When not engrossed in the birth world, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and dog, as well as playing in the great outdoors, eating delicious food, and making our home in NE Portland.
